چکیده

Precision farming is a management process, that involves the development and adaptation of knowledge – based technical management systems with the main goal of optimizing profit. Precision farming can be best understood as a cyclic optimization process, with control elements that measure both quantity and quality. This paper focuses on the GPS, the European Galileo and especially the methods used worldwide for the enhancement of satellite position fixes. To this end we examine the large-scale Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) alternatives, namely WAAS and EGNOS. The specific potential of augmentation systems in precision farming is evaluated against complexity and cost. The paper concludes with the assessment of alternative infrastructures for provision of differential corrections.

Using geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) in zoning nitrate concentration in the groundwater of Birjand, Iran

Previous studies have shown that the presence of nitrate in drinking water can cause several diseases especially in the infants, such as cancer and blue baby. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has since adopted the 50 mg/l standard as the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for nitrate for regulated public water systems. This study aimed to evaluate the concentration of nitrate in the drink...

The role of remote sensing and GIS for spatial prediction of vector-borne diseases transmission: a systematic review.

There have been several attempts made to the appreciation of remote sensing and GIS for the study of vectors, biodiversity, vector presence, vector abundance and the vector-borne diseases with respect to space and time. This study was made for reviewing and appraising the potential use of remote sensing and GIS applications for spatial prediction of vector-borne diseases transmission. The natur...

1 Gis - Based Environmental Analysis , Remote Sensing and Niche Modeling of Seaweed Communities

In the face of global change, spatially explicit studies or meta-analyses of published species data are much needed to understand the impact of the changing environment on living organisms, for instance by modeling and mapping species’ distributional shifts. A Nature Editorial (2008) recently discussed the need for spatially explicit biological data, stating that the absence or inaccuracy of ge...
